These ancient grapes owe their name to Antonio Longanesi whose nickname wasBurson. Among his rows of vines, he saved the last sample of the grapes that today have his name.This vineyard, the Wine, the grapevine are indissolubly tied to the territory of Bagnacavallo and to the romagnola plain. It‘s difficult to say how these grapes arrivedhere, there are different and probable theories, but it is certain that here they found their habitat.

In the 50s. the Longanesi family decided to renew their fixtures and fittingsabandoning the old extensive method based on rows sustained by trees:
theypassed to the modem wine-growing. multiplying this wild grapevine andguaranteeing its survival. With the first harvest. Antonio tried to makewine and surprisingly it discovered that he could serve a wine at 14 degrees.an unthinkable result to reach
with the grapes of the romagnola lowland. From that moment Antonio distributed this grapevine to his fellowtownspersons and he spread it. In 1997 the first experience of exploitationof tl1e Longanesi grape took place and in 1999 some farmers founded the Consortium the Bagnacavallo to promote the typical products andespecially the Burson; this wine is produced in the Blue Label and Black Label variants. now controlled by precise specifications. In 2000 the Longanesi grapes was enrolled in the proper register after theanalyses carried out at San Michele all`Adige Institute.
